Vital records

Vital Records issues and maintains records of all birth, death, marriage, divorce, and adoptions completed in Utah. 

  • Birth records are available from 1905–present. Records are public after 100 years
  • Death records are available from 1905–present. Records are public after 50 years
  • Marriage records are available from 1978–2010. Records are public after 75 years
    • Visit or call the County Clerk's Office where the marriage occurred for years before 1978 or after 2010
  • Divorce records are available from 1978–2010. Records are public after 75 years
    • Visit or call the Utah District Courts in the district where the divorce was finalized for the years before 1978 or after 2010
